Dedication
This work is dedicated to the LDRSHIP of US Army Lieutenant Benjamin Colgan, Survey Platoon ("Tomb Raiders") Leader, Headquarters and Headquarters Battery, 2nd Battalion, 3rd Field Artillery Regiment, 1st Armored Division, in Operation Iraqi Freedom I. Also to Arthur Borden's A Better Country: Why America Was Right to Confront Iraq, whose independent lawyerly examination of the Iraq issue helped inspire the OIF FAQ.
Introduction
The Operation Iraqi Freedom FAQ clarifies the Iraq issue by hewing to its primary sources, the controlling law, policy, and precedent and determinative facts that define OIF's justification. Realigning the Iraq issue with its primary sources is the key to correcting the faulty premises and historical distortion from experts that have obfuscated the Iraq issue. As such, the OIF FAQ rests on primary source authority as opposed to expert authority, which is subordinate to primary source authority on the order of substantive merit. I show my work and cite the sources: the OIF FAQ's corrective content is really basic research that should have grounded the public's conception of the Iraq intervention in the first place.
The OIF FAQ is housed in a personal blog to open up capacity, keep editorial control, and ensure the content stays free and readily accessible to anyone on-line. Academic, law, and policy journals frequently move or remove digital content, alter URLs, or bury digital content behind a paywall or firewall.
Enough personal detail is given to indicate the author of the OIF FAQ is trained to process OIF's source material. More than that is gratuitous as the OIF FAQ's substantive merit does not derive from my expert authority, and I would rather readers focus on the subject matter than irrelevant personal points. Critical feedback and questions are welcome.
